Your First Appointment
What happens at your first appointment at Falkirk Chiropractic Clinic?
Your first appointment lasts 40 minutes and will include a consultation, examination and usually, treatment.
1. Initial Consultation
We will first ask you to complete a confidential medical history form. We will then discuss your health, aches and pains and what you hope to get out of your visit.
2. Examination
We will ask you to change into a gown (if you prefer, you can wear comfy, athletic clothing) and we will do some short tests to assess your movement, posture, joints and muscles. We may also assess your blood pressure, heart, lungs, eyes and ears if necessary.
3. Discussion of findings
We will explain how we think we can help and what treatments may benefit you. We will also advise on how long it will take for you to see results and how many sessions you may need.
4. Treatment
If we think chiropractic can help you, then we will begin treatment with your permission. As each treatment is tailored for each patient, one session can include a combination of chiropractic adjustment, soft tissue therapy, stretching and massage. You will then be advised if you need to come back and may be given some exercises or lifestyle adjustments to do in your own time.

What happens after a chiropractic appointment?
After a chiropractic adjustment, you might feel mild soreness or have very minor aches in areas of your body that your chiropractor worked on. Don’t worry, this usually goes away within 24 hours. If you ever have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
After your appointment, your chiropractor might have some recommendations on what you can do at home to get better. These recommendations might include:
Exercises and stretches
Proper ergonomics for improving your posture
Applying ice or heat to the area
Advice on nutrition or general health
Ways to manage stress and relax
They will also advise when/if you should book back in to see them.
