Falkirk Chiropractic Clinic
FAQ
Can I book an appointment myself or do I need a referral from a GP?
Chiropractors in the UK are considered primary health practitioners. This means that no referral is needed from a GP or any other healthcare professional to start treatment.
How do I make an appointment?
You can book online or call the clinic on 01324610000. If it has been over two years since you have visited us, you will need a reassessment appointment.
What do people come to chiropractors for?
The most common reason for seeing a chiropractor is for musculoskeletal pain and chiropractors have been shown to be able to help with:
General, acute & chronic backache or back pain
Neck pain and stiffness
Sports injuries
Wrist pain
Sciatica
Tennis or golfers elbow
Headaches and migraines
General joint pain and stiffness
Shoulder pain
Pain between shoulder blades
Plantar fasciitis
Hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis
Knee and ankle pain
Will I be given treatment on my first visit?
If your chiropractor does not require any additional testing (X-ray, MRI, blood tests etc.) then, with your permission, your chiropractor will start treatment on your first visit.

I have Private Health Insurance, can I come to you?
Yes! We have Chiropractors who are AXA, AVIVA, BUPA and Vitality covered, among others.
Please phone the clinic to discuss and make your initial new patient appointment.
We can also give a receipt to claim back any treatment fees.

Do you do X-Rays?
We do not take X-Rays at our clinic. Our chiropractors assess and offer diagnosis through a thorough physical examination which will include neurological and orthopaedic testing as well as blood pressure and other musculoskeletal testing where appropriate.
If for any reason, our chiropractors believe you may need any imaging, they will inform you and recommend you contact your GP.
We encourage you to ask your chiropractor at your appointment about your examination and their process of diagnosis.
Why do I need a reassessment appointment?
In line with best practice, if we have not seen you in over two years our chiropractors will want to check if there has been any changes to your health and lifestyle in order to make sure you are getting the most appropriate treatment at your appointment. Treatment is normally included in a reassessment appointment.
How many visits will I need?
This varies from person to person, depending on what issue it is that is being treated. Our chiropractors usually recommend 4 – 6 treatments but this can be increased or decreased depending on your problem. Everyone is assessed on a case-by-case basis. We will not ask you to commit to a certain amount of sessions in advance.

What treatments do you offer?
We primarily offer chiropractic adjustments, along with soft tissue work (massage and gentle stretching or manipulation). However, every treatment is tailored to your individual needs and comfort levels. We will never start any treatment without your verbal consent.
What should I wear to my appointment?
We often ask patients to get changed into a rear-fastening hospital style gown, however if you prefer to wear your own clothes, please wear thin fabric with a loose fit. T-shirts and athletic wear are usually good choices. These options provide the necessary flexibility for the chiropractor to perform manual adjustments effectively.
What is the ‘popping noise’ when I get adjusted?
The ‘pop’ is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released. It is not the bones cracking, and it is painless.
Will it be painful?
It should not be painful. Chiropractic treatment is a gentle and effective method of treating a multitude of pains in the muscles and joints. Some patients may experience temporary aches and stiffness in the days following treatment. Your chiropractor will advise you of any aftercare advice. We will never do anything that you are uncomfortable with or without prior consent.

Do you treat babies/children?
Neither of our chiropractors treat babies/infants. In general, our chiropractors are happy to treat patients from age 12 onwards but we can assess on a case by case basis. It is recommended you contact us to book a short free screen consultation with one of our chiropractors and an assessment can be carried out as to whether chiropractic is suitable for your child.

I am pregnant - can I get treatment?
Of course – our chiropractors are trained in a wide variety of techniques to help with the increased stresses of pregnancy on the body. All our treatments prioritise a safe and gentle way to promote comfort and minimise back/hip pain in pregnancy.

Why do you require 24 hours notice to cancel and reschedule?
By giving us 24 hours notice, this allows us time to offer your appointment slot to someone else who may be on our waiting list to see a chiropractor. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact the clinic ASAP via phone, email or use the link in your appointment text reminder.

Do you take cash/card as payment?
We accept both cash and card as forms of payment in the clinic.

Is there parking at the clinic?
The closest place to park is on the street across from us on Dalderse Avenue which has on street parking (Google Maps)
What can I do to get better myself?
The most important thing you can do is to follow your chiropractor’s advice. This may include recommendations for the amount of activity or rest you should have, applying ice to the injured area prescribed exercises or stretches. To get the full benefit of chiropractic it is very important to complete the recommended amount of sessions.
